T-Mobile has formally announced a pair of no-contract rate plans for customers today with their new unlimited Monthly4G plans that go as low as $50 per month. The two plans, which went into effect on May 22nd, provide consumers with unlimited Talk, unlimited Text and unlimited Web. Of course “unlimited” web in this case means you 4G speeds only up to a certain point. And that point depends on how much you wanna spend each month.  Once you hit the wall, T-Mobile will throttle your data speeds.

  • For $50/month, customers get unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited web with the first 100 MB of data at up to 4G speeds.
  • For $70/month, customers get unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited web with the first 5 GB of data at up to 4G speeds.

Also keep in mind that these 4G speeds will depend on your handset and the market(s) in which you use the service. For more information, or a look at the coverage map, be sure to check out T-Mobile.com.

Magazine lovers will be happy to learn that Zinio has come to Android today, bringing thousand of issues along for the ride. The application is free, however each magazine comes with their own prices for subscription. For instance, ESPN runs $14.97 US for 26 issues (1 year) while Rolling Stone is $19.95 US for the same. Depending on what your interests are, there are upwards of dozens of titles to choose from. At launch, there are more than 20,000 magazines to download across Honeycomb tablets and select 2.2/2.3 handsets.

To help generate interest and buzz in the app, Zinio is tossing in 24 free magazines to download, including recent issues of Cosmopolitan, ESPN The Magazine, Harvard Business Review, Men’s Fitness, O, The Oprah Magazine and Us Weekly.

We’ve spent a few minutes playing around with Zinio today and are truly impressed with the selection.  Nearly every title we could think of was present, with some at bargain prices.  While others were a tad pricey as compared to Barnes & Noble’s offerings, we like the all-in-one approach here.  Zinio lets users read magazines across various platforms, including desktops and latops.

“Zinio offers the greatest breadth for magazines today, both in terms of device and platform availability and sheer number of titles globally.  We continue to deliver new features and platform availability that allows our users to enjoy their favorite magazines in the most compelling way. In the coming month, we will also be introducing new ways to explore and enjoy digital content” Rich Maggiotto, Zinio president and CEO.

AT&T announced their next Android handset this morning, the ultra-affordable Pantech Crossover.  Running Android 2.2 and powered by a 600MHz processor, AT&T bills the phone as “perfect for first-time smartphone users”.  Considering the 3.1-inch touch screen, sliding QWERTY keyboard, and 2GB, we’re going to agree with the carrier.  It’s certainly not the type of handset you’d consider for replacing a previous Android phone; The specs are reminiscent of early 2010 smart phones.

If you know someone ready to graduate from feature phones, let them know the Crossover goes on sale on June 5th for $69.99 with a two-year contract and minimum monthly data plan.

Full specs:

  • Android™ 2.2 (Froyo)

  • HSPA Tri-Band 850/1900/2100 MHz; Quad-Band GSM850/900/1800/1900 MHz
  • Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • 2GB card preinstalled
  • microSD™ Memory Card Supports up to 32GB
  • 4.45″ (L) x 2.28″ (W) x 0.56″ (D), Weight: 5.15 oz
  • 3-megapixel camera with camcorder, fixed focus, 4x zoom
  • 600 MHz processor
  • Micro USB and 3.5mm headset jack
  • 1500 mAh Lithium-ion battery; Up to 5 Hours, Standby Time: Up to 360 Hours
