As an Android fanboy, I believe that I am not the only one excited about Ice Cream Sandwich and I am really waiting for the Galaxy Nexus as most of you are, but… I’m sure not everyone is going to sell their Droid Bionic or SGSII just to buy the Galaxy Nexus. Most of you will instead patiently await an ICS update to your device. Motorola recently told us that the Motorola XOOM will receive the ICS update soon, whereas the Droid RAZR will get it in 2012, but what about the other Motorola phones running on Gingerbread e.g. Droid Bionic, Droid 3 etc? Motorola also announced via Twitter that they will launch an ICS update schedule six weeks after Google’s public push of ICS, which means we will see ICS running on Motorola’s latest Android devices soon. I hope Motorola has a few new ICS devices up their sleeves as well.

The first ICS device will be hitting Verizon in the next month or so and hopefully we will see ICS devices from other manufacturers soon. So folks, do you currently own a Motorola device that you’re hoping will see ICS? Planning on buying one? Let us know in the comment box below.

The Samsung Exhibit II 4G, T-Mobile’s latest budget-friendly 4G device, is set to hit most Walmart stores tomorrow. We first heard about the Samsung Exhibit II 4G a couple weeks ago when it dropped its Galaxy W moniker and showed up in a leaked T-Mobile inventory sheet. Today T-Mobile and Samsung have officially announced the Samung Exhibit II 4G which will be the first no annual contract 4G smartphone to be sold at Walmart starting October 27. The device will eventually make it to T-Mobile retail stores as well as www.T-Mobile.com starting Nov. 2.

Those looking for a budget-friendly 4G solution will be pleased to know that the Exhibit II 4G will be offered for $29.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate card with a two-year service agreement and $199.99 via no annual contract. The Exhibit II 4G’s specs are what can be expected out of a mid-range budget phone and include:

  • A 3.7-inch WVGA TFT touchscreen
  • A 1 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor
  • 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with flash and video capture capabilities
  • Front-facing camera for video-chatting
  • Android™ 2.3 Gingerbread
  • T-Mobile® TV in mobile HD and Samsung Media Hub.

The processor came in a tad bit smaller than predicted as well as the retail price being higher than the expected $99, but for a 4G budget device, it’s a deal worth looking at. Let us know what you think and if you plan on picking one up tomorrow.

Seidio, one of the world’s leading providers of cell phone and mobile device accessories, recently released a new product: the Seidio Charging Vault. This device functions as not only a replacement wall charger for your devices, but the plug itself is an extended battery. Here’s how it works:

  1. Replace your standard wall charger for your phone with the Charging Vault
  2. Plug in your phone using the retractable, multi-head USB cable (iPhone / standard smartphone plug)
  3. Let the Power Vault / phone charge overnight

And voila! In the morning, not only will your phone be charged, but you’ll also have a 2200 mAh battery in your pocket for the rest of the day. It’s a tiny bit bulky, but if you’re a power hog like me, it’s worth the extra bulge in your pocket (Come on now, let’s be grown ups about this).

I had the opportunity to review one of these over the past week or so and I have to say this: “it’s a life saver!” More than once, my battery has started to hit that dreaded yellow/red area where you know it’s just a matter of minutes before it goes kaput. For the last week, it was as simple as plugging my phone into the Charging Vault in my pocket and going along my way. It may have looked a little strange with a random cable coming out of my pocket and then being plugged into my Evo 3D, but I didn’t notice any specific looks from anyone.

There is one thing to keep in mind with this device: if you plan on using your phone while it’s charging on the Vault, don’t also expect to have it put a charge into your battery. While a great device, it simply can’t keep your phone going on heavy usage and charge your battery at the same time. It will go up, but not so much that you’ll be able to be online, texting, watching movies, and filling up that battery of yours. But ultimately, if you’re expecting that out of anything, you’re probably expecting too much. As long as the Vault keeps my phone going when it’s about to die (which it does), it serves its purpose.

However, if you’re looking to juice that phone of yours back up, you’ll also be pleasantly surprised; with my Evo 3D off completely, the Vault charged my phone up from 15% to 100% in a mere 55 minutes. This was surprising in more than one way: not only was the vault able to charge my phone completely in what I consider a short amount of time, it was also able to recognize that there was a phone plugged into it, even though the phone was off. I didn’t think this would be the case as it can recognize when there is nothing plugged into it, but I was happy to see that to not be the reality of it.

So, all in all, I would call this device a must-have for power hungry, moderate-to-heavy phone users such as myself. It can be a saving grace for all those times you run out of juice in a place where you can’t find a juice station (electrical outlet, that is), and will make you the go-to guy for people who are in the same situation, whether they be Android, Blackberry, or iPhone users. It should be noted that the Vault is not compatible with the Motorola Droid Bionic, and is not recommended for use with tablets. Be sure to hit up seidio.com to see all their awesome products, and hit up the page here for the Charging Vault itself, which retails for $59.99 (but it’s currently on sale for $10.00 off!).

Okay HTC fanboys, I need your attention! If you are a HTC user or fanboy like me, then boy do I have good news for you. HTC is now sending out invites to media personnel, inviting them to an event on Nov. 3rd where HTC will introduce their “latest innovation.” We have no idea what the “latest innovation” is but word on the street is that HTC will announce the HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless. The successor to the Droid Incredible 2 will feature a 4.3 inch display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 8 MP camera, 1 GB RAM, and Beats Audio integration. We saw the Rezound running on Android 2.3.3 instead of ICS, so it seems that the Rezound will be launched with Android 2.3.3 and later updated to ICS. Maybe HTC will also introduce a couple ICS devices too? Now would be a good time before Samsung and the Galaxy Nexus end up taking a commanding lead in the market.

So folks, stay with us, because we will keep you up-to-date with all the secrets of HTC. What do you guys think? Is HTC launching the Rezound on Nov. 3rd or will we see some new ICS devices? Or perhaps both? Tell us what you think in the comment box below.

Just two weeks ago, T-Mobile officially announced the T-Mobile Springboard as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. We all know that Galaxy Tab 10.1 is one of the best Android tablets available in the market right now, whereas the Springboard is yet another cheap Android tablet offering some good specs with a “sweet” price. Now T-Mobile has officially announced the launch date of both tablets but as usual left out the pricing. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available starting Nov. 2 and it will be one of the biggest launches by T-Mo so far, while the T-Mobile Springboard will be out on Nov. 9.

Anyway, at least we know when the tablets are coming out. Who’s planning to grab one of these wonderful tablets from T-Mobile next month? Tell us about it in the comment box below.
