LG Mobile will be holding an exclusive event Decemeber 1st in NYC, and according to the electronic invitation: “All will be revealed.” Exactly what will be revealed may not be a secret thanks to LG’s not-so-discrete image file name — LG Nitro. We’ve seen the LG Nitro HD aka Optimus LTE HD before and it’s already available in Canada, so why the secret “exclusive event” in the US? Who knows, but given the fact that every other manufacturer has released their holiday beasts, maybe LG wants to garner some sort of excitement.

While LG phones aren’t on most people’s radars, the LG Nitro HD isn’t to be dismissed totally. It features a 4.5″ True HD IPS display, dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB of internal storage, up-to 32GB expandable, Android 2.3 and is compatible with 4G LTE and HSPA+ networks. While most of us are waiting on other devices *cough* Galaxy Nexus *cough* the LG Nitro HD may attract a few customers if the price is right and they release it soon. What do you guys think? Is this one going to get lost in the shuffle or does it deserve a second look? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.

Here we go again!  Facebook has called on HTC to help an official phone for the social networking behemoth, according to AllThingsD.  After also considering Samsung for the job, the ambitious mobile project carries the codename of Buffy, based on the titular Vampire Slayer.  Very little is known about the phone at this point, however we could be 12-to 18 months away from seeing the actual device.  As one would expect, the handset is expected to run a modified version of Android with deep Facebook integration.

This isn’t the first time that these two players have collaborated on an Android-based smartphone, having previously released the HTC Status for AT&T.  The phone has not been a runaway success however it’s hard to tell where the blame should be placed.  A number of factors play into its lukewarm reception including the form factor, carrier, and its introductory price.  Maybe there wasn’t enough Facebook in the handset?

Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world. – A spokesman for Facebook, speaking to AllThingsD

Dead On Arrival launches as an Android™ exclusive on Xperia™ PLAY

N3V Games’ survival horror lands on Xperia PLAY as an Androi™ exclusive this November

Exclusive to Xperia™ PLAY for a month, Dead On Arrival features top-down 3D gameplay and a full arsenal of weapons to fight back against the undead horde. Stunning graphics allow players to experience the battle for survival in full gory detail, whilst comic-style cut scenes tell the story behind the mayhem.

N3V Games Studio Head – Paul Olsen explains the link between them and the undead. “Well we have that much going on at N3V that some days we feel like zombies ourselves so we thought it was time to fight back! Seriously though, it all started about a year ago when Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies started to eat our brains. The gameplay is very addictive with the replyability, and we wanted to create something along the same lines as this for the mobile platform. The third person top down view with thumbstick controls fit very well into DOA and after spending countless hours playing games like Minigore, Gorilla Bob, iDracula and Alive 4-Ever (and Nazi Zombies still) we put our final design into development (along with using the Unity Engine – made life that much easier!) to create Dead on Arrival. Check out the full details here:http://www.deadonarrivalgame.com, but we hope all the Xperia™ PLAY users and eventually the rest of the world get hours of enjoyment on what we hope lives up to the undead fans of many!”

STORY SO FAR …
Two days ago a bomb went off in central park. Fatalities were few but hundreds more were injured in the blast. They got them to the hospital some how… but it wasn’t long before all of the injured had suddenly died as well. The doctors said it was some kind of ‘mass cardiac arrest.’ If that was true they wouldn’t have boarded up the windows and barricaded the doors. No one’s heard anything from inside for 12 hours now, and what we heard then wasn’t good…”

With an armoury of deadly weapons at your disposal you must fight to survive against an endless horde of zombies hungry for one thing: You!

You’ve gotten into the hospital, but all the other rooms are locked. Your only chance for survival is to kill for cash, letting you unlock additional rooms or purchase more powerful weapons in your endless fight against the undead. Board up the doors, run fast, shoot to kill and maybe you might see tomorrow after all!

FEATURES

  • ·    Fast paced action survival shooter
  • ·    Survive against massive waves of the undead!
  • ·    Purchase loads of different weapons to defend yourself from the horde
  • ·    Buy yourself some time by boarding up doors to keep the undead at bay
  • ·    Unlock rooms to make space and find different weapons to finish the fight
  • ·    Search for the “random box” and destroy your enemies with the most powerful guns!
  • ·    Massive hospital level to explore and defend all by your lonesome
  • ·    Tutorial level to help you get to grips with the gameplay
  • ·    Full 3D action and gory effects in high detailed graphics perfect for all mobile devices!

Google, hoping to lessen confusion among some of their brands and services, is folding Google Checkout into Google Wallet.  The move makes perfect sense to us as we expect to find ourselves using Wallet more with time.  An email started getting sent out last night to pretty much anyone who has ever used Google Checkout for purchases. Whereas users don’t have anything to do on their part, retailers and online merchants will be asked to update things a bit in the coming year.

Thank you for using Google Checkout. We’re writing about an important change coming to Google Checkout over the next few months – Google Checkout is becoming part of Google Wallet. To help you learn more about this transition, we’ll be hosting a webinar (https://google.connectsolutions.com/checkouttowallet/event/…).
Please note that space in the webinar is limited, but we’ll have a recording posted for those who aren’t able to attend.

Google Wallet is a virtual wallet that securely stores payment information and makes paying fast both online and in-store. On the web, buyers simply click a Google Wallet button to make quick and secure purchases with their saved payment information. Buyers can also use the Google Wallet mobile app to make purchases at thousands of retail store locations with just a tap of the phone.

Google Checkout buyers will now manage all Google Checkout and Google Wallet orders at http://wallet.google.com/manage. Buyers will be able to make purchases with their existing accounts at sites that accept either Google Checkout or Google Wallet.

At this time, there’s no action required from you. In early 2012, we’ll ask merchants, organizations and developers who use Google Checkout to sell items or collect donations to change any website text that talks about Google Checkout to Google Wallet. No additional integration or other technical updates will be necessary. If you use Google Checkout through a third party shopping cart, your cart provider will make any necessary changes.

If you have questions or want to learn more, please attend or view our webinar and visit our website (www.google.com/payments/index.html). We’re looking forward to bringing these new Google Wallet features to your customers and will email you again in the next few months to let you know when to expect the Google Wallet button.

Sincerely,

The Google Checkout Team
