LG Mobile will be holding an exclusive event Decemeber 1st in NYC, and according to the electronic invitation: “All will be revealed.” Exactly what will be revealed may not be a secret thanks to LG’s not-so-discrete image file name — LG Nitro. We’ve seen the LG Nitro HD aka Optimus LTE HD before and it’s already available in Canada, so why the secret “exclusive event” in the US? Who knows, but given the fact that every other manufacturer has released their holiday beasts, maybe LG wants to garner some sort of excitement.

While LG phones aren’t on most people’s radars, the LG Nitro HD isn’t to be dismissed totally. It features a 4.5″ True HD IPS display, dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB of internal storage, up-to 32GB expandable, Android 2.3 and is compatible with 4G LTE and HSPA+ networks. While most of us are waiting on other devices *cough* Galaxy Nexus *cough* the LG Nitro HD may attract a few customers if the price is right and they release it soon. What do you guys think? Is this one going to get lost in the shuffle or does it deserve a second look? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.

Rick O’Shea launches on iOS and Android

YoYo Games’ first freemium title now available to download

London, UK – 22nd November 2011 - YoYo Games, the leading portal for user-generated game content, is pleased to announce that Rick O’Shea, an innovative platform puzzler, is released today, Tuesday 22nd November, on the iOS and Android platforms. Rick O’Shea is YoYo Games’ latest title to be created using GameMaker, and it’s the first game to be released as a freemium title. Rick O’Shea follows in the footsteps of previous gaming hits to be developed using GameMaker such as KaroshiThey Need To Be Fed and Pollushot.

Rick O’Shea follows the career of Rick O’Shea, a human cannonball at a circus who performs death defying stunts for the crowd. Players must control Rick and steer him around using cannons to avoid dangers such as timed spikes and shark pools, all so that Rick can reach the exit of each level. Each cannon is static so the player can only control the rotation before firing our hero in the desired direction. Once fired Rick will ricochet off ceilings, walls and floors until he reaches another cannon or the exit.

Rick O’Shea features:

  • Simple, intuitive single tap gameplay
  • 120 fiendish and addictive levels to ricochet through
  • Game Centre support on iOS
  • 30 Achievements to unlock, and 12 mini game levels to find
  • Download act 1 for free, with a further 4 acts to “purchase and play”

Rick O’Shea is available to download, for free, for iOS and Android devices and will include act 1. Three downloadable content (DLC) packs will offer players the chance to expand their ricocheting adventures, with packs one and two containing two brand new acts, and pack three giving players eight brand new characters to play with. Each DLC pack will cost USD$0.99 / GBP£0.69 / EUR€0.79.

Here we go again!  Facebook has called on HTC to help an official phone for the social networking behemoth, according to AllThingsD.  After also considering Samsung for the job, the ambitious mobile project carries the codename of Buffy, based on the titular Vampire Slayer.  Very little is known about the phone at this point, however we could be 12-to 18 months away from seeing the actual device.  As one would expect, the handset is expected to run a modified version of Android with deep Facebook integration.

This isn’t the first time that these two players have collaborated on an Android-based smartphone, having previously released the HTC Status for AT&T.  The phone has not been a runaway success however it’s hard to tell where the blame should be placed.  A number of factors play into its lukewarm reception including the form factor, carrier, and its introductory price.  Maybe there wasn’t enough Facebook in the handset?

Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world. – A spokesman for Facebook, speaking to AllThingsD
