Ask.com is one of the most popular and well-known search engines (next to Google, of course) on the internet, and now they’re looking to establish a foothold in the mobile industry as well. They’re on the right track with the announcement of their Ask.com Android app. It’s available now on the Android Market and Amazon App Store, so why don’t you check it out?

The app looks to be the perfect solution for people that need quick answers on the go, without scrolling through page after page of search results. It’s packing such features as voice search, push notifications for new answers, as well as the ability to ask a real user a question in real time.

You can download the official Ask.com Android app below, as well as view the press release after the break. Who’s downloaded the app? What do you think? Drop a comment below!

  Android Pro Widgets

If that widget looks familiar and you’re not using HTC Sense, chances are you’ve been acquainted with LauncherPro Plus and the Sense-like widgets that are bundled with it. I’m a big fan of LP+ and all, but the only thing keeping me tied to it were the awesome widgets. Thanks to Android Pro Widgets, however, I’m free to move on.

Android Pro Widgets is a free Market download that looks to replicate the Sense/LP+ widget and make it usable on any launcher. Android Pro Widgets does just that, and it does it well. Widgets scroll nicely, and there’s a good variety.

One of the best selling points about Android Pro Widgets is that it’s actually free to use. The only things you miss out on by not buying the license are the skins, unlocking the timeline widget, and a few features unique to certain widgets (people, calendar, agenda, and bookmarks). There’s fairly strong theme support already, and the "Holo" theme based off of the Honeycomb look is just too cool.

If you’re looking for excellent widgets but don’t want to have to be confined to Sense or LP+, I’d definitely take a look at Android Pro Widgets. For me, it means being able to use ADW EX again, and that’s worth the $1.99, to me.

More pictures and download links are after the break.

Evernote posted on their blog today that they have acquired Skitch, a software platform that lets users draw and annotate screen captures and images.  Designed originally for Mac desktops, Skitch will make for a great way to enhance the note-taking, photo-capturing experience.  Wasting no time at all, Evernote immediately announced that Android will be the first mobile platform to see a native client released.  How soon will we get our hands on this new app?  Not long at all, it will be available in the Android Market later today!

Calling Skitch for Android addictively fun is an understatement. It’s the perfect way to quickly add your mark to any image. Take a snapshot of something awesome, draw an arrow and add a caption, then post the image on Facebook. When you’re at a conference, snap a picture of the people you meet, annotate it with their names and save it into Evernote.

Head to Evernote’s blog to get a full understanding of what Skitch is and how it will work for your Android phone or tablet.  We can’t wait to get our hands on this and try out the various features.  Evernote was already one of our favorite apps, recently landing on our 50+ Essential Apps for Back-to-School, so we can only imagine the Skitch integration adds to its value.

This one only applies to our friends across the pond, as we’ve just gotten wind of a new application that aims to save gamers a bit of money when purchasing video games and consoles. The app works much like ShopSavvy, with a built-in barcode scanner. Users can scan games and consoles, and compare store prices with those online, which helps ensure that they’re getting the best deal. The prices that users see are broken down by new, used,  and trade-in items. There’s also a general search feature, so users can search for specific game titles.

The app is available via the Android Market for UK users, and you can download it by using the box below. Don’t forget to leave a comment telling us what you like (or don’t like) about the PlayR2 app! The full press release can also be found after the break.
