Galaxy-Tab4-10.1-SM-T530-Black_1

Samsung, as expected, have just revealed their lineup of three new Galaxy Tab 4 products which include a 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch size screen, all with new designs and new internals from the previous generation.

The Galaxy Tab 4 range sees a move towards slimmer bezels and squarer corners, together with a slimmer, thinner, and lighter design than the Galaxy Tab 3.

All three Galaxy Tab 4 tablets have the same 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution with a 16:10 aspect radio.

The Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot, 3-Megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-Megapixel front-facing camera, and Bluetooth 4.0

With almost exactly the same specs, the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, the main difference over the 10.1-inch model is the dimensions, with the 8-inch model measuring 124.0 x 210.0 x 7.95 mm and weighing 320 grams, compared to the 243.4 x 176.4 x 7.95 mm and 487 grams of the 10.1-inch model.

The Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 has the same internals as the bigger tablets, but will feature an 8GB option alongside the 16GB model.

Samsung has said the three new Galaxy Tab 4 devices will go on sale later this year in black and white, with pricing still yet to be announced.

Galaxy Tab4 10.1 (SM-T530) Black_1

Murmurings  of late have suggested Samsung would soon be introducing the next generation in their age-old Galaxy Tab lineup, and those rumors have come true today. Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series, which consists of 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch options.

The tablets are all quite similar, specs wise, though that isn’t much of a surprise. And they won’t impress as this is positioned to be an affordable range of tablets for those without the dough to spend on more bells and whistles. Here’s what’s coming your way (differences noted in parenthesis):

  • 1280 x 800 resolution
  • 1.2GHz quad-core processor
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • 16GB of internal storage with microSD up to 64GB (7.0 has an 8GB option, and only has up to 32GB for the 3G/WiFi versions)
  • 1.3MP rear camera, 3MP front camera
  • WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS w/ GLONASS
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 4G LTE
  • Battery: 6,800mAh for 10.1-inch, 4,450mAh for 8.0-inch, unknown for 7-inch

Samsung didn’t go into extreme detail about it all, but you can expect the typical Galaxy Tab experience (which includes a not-so-supercharged version of TouchWiz). The devices will be available in the second half of this year (that starts today, if you haven’t been paying attention), though no pricing details were given at this time.

We’ve heard about the as yet unnanounced Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 before – outed by Samsung no less – but until now we’ve seen nothing more than a name. Serial leaker, @evleaks has today posted this, the apparent first image of the new 7-inch Galaxy Tab 4. But it isn’t exactly a quality render, with the screen looking off center and the home button not quite, well, straight.
