Has Google decided to stick with Samsung for the fourth generation of the Nexus line of Android smartphones?  If you believe a new report out of DigiTimes then the answer is a certain yes. Advising that Google has already chosen Samsung, the news outlet quotes a source close to the matter.

Since Samsung has become the top vendor of Android smartphones, Google will continue to have Samsung develop its next-generation Nexus models, leveraging Samsung’s innovation ability with regard to the Android platform, and its ability to control the supply of key components, said sources.

If history is any indication then we might look for the Nexus 4 to closely resemble the Galaxy S III but come with Android 5/Jelly Bean.  The Nexus S was similar to the first generation of Galaxy S while the Galaxy Nexus was not all that different from the Galaxy S II.  Keep a close eye on the May 3 Unpacked event as it could foretell the next Pure Google experience.

Will Google stay with Samsung for Galaxy Nexus successor? originally appeared on AndroidGuys.

Another day, another Galaxy SIII rumor. This one comes from DigiTimes, who’s spilled the beans that the Galaxy S III will be featuring a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED+ HD screen and 319ppi (pixels-per-inch) at 1280×720 pixels. It’s interesting that, according to DigiTimes, the SIII won’t be featuring a PenTile display, which we saw on the Galaxy Nexus. Instead, it will be using regular RGB, so there will be a slight difference.

A quick recap of the most recent rumors points to several main points. We heard that the phone has already gone through production, which means the design is finalized. We’ve also seen the SIII render, which is exciting, but probably fake as well. We’re also hearing that it will feature Samsung’s own processor with built-in LTE support, and that it’ll be the first phone to offer wireless charging out of the box. The latest rumors put the launch of the Galaxy SIII somewhere in April.

As far as we know, the device could launch tomorrow, so these latest rumors only add fuel to the already burning fire. When the SIII does drop, we can be sure that Samsung will spare no expense on the advertising.

So who else is tired of all the Galaxy SIII rumors? Anyone not even excited about it anymore? Sound off in the comments!

While all eyes are focused on the Galaxy SIII, it seems that it’s not the only device Samsung will be launching. A new Samsung device has been leaked by PhoneArena, and they’re calling it the Samsung GT-i9300. The device was actually leaked back in February with some minor details, but the photo above was just recently discovered.

Rumor has it that we’re looking at a mid-range phone that will most likely launches as the Samsung Galaxy M, the M representing “mid-tier.” It will feature a 1.4 GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4-inch 720p HD AMOLED display with a 1026 x 600 resolution, and Ice Cream Sandwich. According to GSM-Arena, the Galaxy M will be dropping sometime in May. Of course, there’s been no confirmation from Samsung yet, so we’ll just have to take this with a grain of salt for now.

So who’s interested in this device upon first glance? Anyone holding out for the Galaxy SIII? Let us know in the comments!

Let’s all give Samsung an A for effort so far on their “after-sale” support of the Galaxy SII. Last week we saw official Android v4.0 drop and, as unusual at it may sound, they are right on time with delivering the source code to Ice Cream Sandwich! Huge news for developers, this is still one of the most popular phones to date. No source has been plaguing the dev community for some time, I know codeworkx (the leading dev for the international SGSII) and his followers are happy to see this. He’s already been poking Samsung, who hasn’t had the best track record with open source stuff in the past.

All that being said, if you are a developer wanting to peruse the code or even a curious wannabe-dev go check it out!

You’ll need to search for the device, so type in GT-i9100 and knock yourself out!

With all the rumors about the next flagship member of Samsung’s popular Galaxy line, the lines between reality and fantasy, at times, become blurred as our desire for something bigger, faster, and more powerful outweighs any thought of overall practicality. But according to Eldar Murtazin, the design is finalized, and EVERY carrier wants as many as they can get their hands on. His tweet, shown below, is evidence to that.

Other news of the SIII from Murtazin puts the device in a league all its own, being the first phone to sport a quad-core processor, at only 7 mm thin, with a 4.8-inch HD display. But above all else, the two most exciting aspects of this machine are as follows:

First, the Galaxy line will be stepping up from the cheapy plastic ways of the past, as Sammy will build the third with a ceramic chassis. Second, Eldar has confirmed that we can expect the release by this June. Of course, Eldar is only one man, and we’ve heard no word from Samsung on if any of this is credible, so we’ll just have to sit here and twiddle our thumbs until we hear some concrete information.

That notwithstanding, is anyone else as excited as I am? Drop a comment below!

Samsung has officially begun sending out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to the European Galaxy S II handset. Confirmed in a Facebook post yesterday, the update is also hitting Korea, Poland, Hungary, and Sweden and will “gradually roll out” to other markets in short order. Pocket-Lint advises that new countries will see their update on March 19th.

In addition, we’ll also offer Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrades for GALAXY S, GALAXY Tab 7″, GALAXY S Plus, GALAXY S SCL (Super Clear LCD) and GALAXY W from end March. The firmware upgrades for GALAXY S, for example, include Face Unlock, Snapshot, Photo Editor, and others.

Keep in mind that this 4.0 update is not intended for the handset you picked up from T-Mobile, Sprint, or AT&T. Those carrier-branded U.S. editions will have to wait a bit before any hard news surfaces. Up next for Samsung are the Android 4.0 for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

We may still be a few days away from the Galaxy Note hitting AT&T stores around the country but that doesn’t mean Samsung is sitting around twiddling their thumbs.  A new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the Galaxy Note has leaked online this week which looks to be the real deal.  According to a number of folks at XDA-developer forums  the ROM appears to be fully functional, including camera and Bluetooth.  It stands to reason that this is a final build as it’s already expected to roll out in March.

Of course this is strictly for the international flavor of the handset and not the carrier-branded AT&T model.  We cannot imagine, however, that it will be very long before it gets ported over.
