Some images have leaked of a new “Atrix” like device that appears to be heading AT&T .  Given this is the first we’ve seen of the device, we’ll proceed with caution on the specs and details.  However, we’re already on board with the phone should it prove to be the real deal.

This new, Atrix 2 we’ll call it, looks to offer an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture and a slightly re-positioned power button.  On the software front, we see much less Motoblur influence from previous Motorola offerings, a definite plus.  The Atrix 2 is said to feature some sort of dual-core processor, possibly the Ti-OMAP 4430 (based on Motorola’s track record). Hopefully we will see this device in a future AT&T lineup.  Will it replace the current Atrix 4G in the same way that Verizon likes to update the Droid every six to eight months?  We’ll find out before long.

Anyone have any idea as to why we see Sony Ericsson in the top of the screen?

 Motorola Atrix

The Motorola Atrix is now available on T-Mobile UK, ending the handset’s brief period of exclusivity on T-Mo’s sister network Orange. T-Mobile is offering the Atrix for free on 24-month contracts of £35.75 or more per month, which is pretty much the going rate for dual-core smartphones in the UK right now. Opt for a cheaper or shorter contract, and you’ll pay between £50 and £350 upfront for your Atrix.

There’s no mention of the laptop dock just yet, but Orange has been selling them for £299.99 (~$490), so you can probably expect T-Mobile to get on-board soon at a similar price point.

 Motorola Atrix on Orange

Motorola’s dual-core Atrix has launched in the UK, exclusively on the Orange network for the time being. Orange is offering the Atrix for free on 24-month contracts of £35 per month, which includes 600 minutes, unlimited SMS, 50 MMS and a 750MB data allowance.

Cheaper contracts are available, and you can expect to pay between £50 and £200 for the phone itself if you opt for one of these. Orange is also offering the Motorola’s "Lapdock" alongside the Atrix, though this’ll set you back a slightly eye-watering £299.99 (~$500).

To find out whether the Atrix (and Lapdock) is worth your hard-earned cash, be sure to check out our review of the Atrix 4G, AT&T’s HSPA+ version of the phone.

Yesterday we heard word that an update to version 4.1.83 for the Motorola Atrix 4G was due today, and though it was uncovered on Motorola’s site earlier the official over-the-air version is ready to roll. In preperation, AT&T has updated their Atrix support page with complete instructions on what to do when your handset is prompted to update. It isn’t exactly rocket science, but if you are new to Android and OTA updates it might be good to give the once over.

Aside from enabling HSUPA data speeds on the Atrix, the update also includes 2G/EDGE mobile hotspot support and the ability to use Yahoo email over a Wi-Fi network. But those are added bonuses. Anyone see the update pushed to their handset yet?
