The Nexus One has been on the market for more than a year, and it’s still a contender in the Android world. Vodafone just launched Android 2.3.4 for their Nexus One. 2.3.4 has been out there for Nexus One users for quite some time now, and Vodafone has finally made it available for theirs. Android 2.3.4 will bring some new features to the Nexus One, such as:
- UI Enhancements
- New Android Keyboard, with easy copy/paste feature
- Improved Power Management
- Internet Calling support (Voip over SIP)
- Multiple Camera Management (front and back)
I am sure the update will make all Nexus One users happy. Vodafone is still selling the Nexus One, and it’s available for free on contract starting at 26 GBR per month. At the moment, the N1 is running on the latest version of Gingerbread, but it remains to be seen if it’ll see an Ice Cream Sandwich update once it drops later this year.
In any case, if you’ve already gotten 2.3.4 on your Vodafone Nexus One, don’t forget to share your experience in the comments below, or on our Facebook Wall! Do you love the new features? Don’t notice any improvements? We want to know!

Well, it looks like you Nexus One users are finally getting some love from Google, in the form of Android v2.3.4. This is the same update that was pushed out to the Nexus S, minus the videochat capabilities within GTalk, since the N1 lacks a front-facing camera. Bummer. Furthermore, it seems as though Google also decided to leave out voice calls within GTalk. So, this update is essentially just bug fixes.
Of course, you’ll be able to shove your Nexus One in your friends’ faces and say “I have 2.3.4. Do you?”, and that’s always a plus. If you have patience, you can wait for the OTA to hit your N1 within the next few days. If you’re like me and have no patience, you can download the update from here.

OK, boys and girls. The official Android 2.3.4 update for the Nexus One is pushing out. And with it you get whatever it is that Google’s fixed and added. But one thing you won’t get is the newfangled video chat (or voice services, for that matter) in Google Talk. Not a huge surprise, as the phone doesn’t have a front-facing camera, but it’s disappointing nonetheless.
Couple of ways to get the update. One is to sit and wait for it. The update is pushing out over the air. But if you’re the impatient type, you can update manually. Here’s how:
- Download the update from here.
- Rename the file to update.zip. Note that if you’re using Windows, just rename it to "update" (no quotes, of course) because it’s already a zipped file.
- Copy the update.zip file onto your microSD card.
- With your Nexus One off, hold down the trackball and press the power button.
- You’ll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select "Bootloader."
- On the next screen, select "Recovery."
- Your phone will reboot, giving you a picture of the Android robot and an exclamation point inside a triangle.
- Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.
- Now (using the trackball this time) choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" and let things run their course.

Recently we reported about an issue that people who own Nexus One’s and have upgraded to “Gingerbread” have been having with a 3 second or so delay in hearing or being heard when answering calls on their device. People have been posting their issues in the Gingerbread issue tracker, but not getting much help.
Today, Google’s Dan Morrill weighed in and said that since the issue is device specific, it should be pursued in the Google Mobile Help Forum. Certainly not what you were hoping to hear from Google first thing, as it feels like the issue is being shunted to a different department.
If you are having the issue, make sure to put your feedback in the Forum using the link above. Frustrated yet?

eBay is always a great source for a bizarre story or two, whether it be an absurd amount of money an item sold for or an absurd item itself. This post is of the absurd amount of money variety. Some poor soul was just looking to get rid of his broken Nexus One as he didn’t want to deal with the $55 repair process through HTC.
Little did he know that he’d be selling that broken bundle of joy for nearly $7,000. I’m not even sure how the bid amount got to $500 for a dated phone such as the Nexus One but the jump from $500 to $7,000 is likely just the product of a typo or someone itching to be a jerk.
The weird part is that the person who was seriously bidding on it actually one-upped that large bid – surely he won’t seriously consider paying that much. Perhaps he didn’t see how much the price was. Or perhaps there is something magical about this Nexus One that we don’t know. I’ll go with the latter. [Thanks, Carlos!]
