While some folks swoon over HTC Sense, there is a good amount of people out there who just simply do not like it. This is yet another one of those great things about the Android platform — if you don’t like something, chances are someone will make a build of it that you will like. Such is the case for the HTC Thunderbolt this time around.
Das BAMF being one of the most popular ROMs for the Thunderbolt has now been stripped of most of its HTC Sense components and we’re left with BAMF GingerBolt Sense 3.0 stripped that makes use of the MR2.5 Gingerbread radio and other nice things such as the Das Bamf Toolkit. The developer behind this, TMZ_Andrew, has posted the nitty gritty details in the Android Central forums so if you’re looking to go senseless on your Thunderbolt you’ll certainly want to check it out and be sure to leave some feedback — it is a beta though so keep that in mind.

It’s kind of become a rite of passage for new Android devices to get their own custom ROMs. Every major Android tablet and phone has gone through it, and it looks as though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is joining the club. This comes just 9 days after the Moto Xoom got its own custom ROM. The Tab 10.1 ROM appears to be a faster, deodexed version of the stock ROM that the device ships with. Granted, it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely usable.
So, if you’ve got a hankering for a faster experience on your Galaxy Tab 10.1, you can check out the KhasMek ROM here. Has anyone installed this ROM yet? What do you think? Sound off in the comments below, or on our Facebook Wall!

Well it’s been quite a wait, but finally the first custom ROM for the Motorola Xoom is available. You’ll have to head over at the XDA developers forum to grab it – thank member bigrushdog while you’re there.
Team Tiamat (the same guys that brought us those blistering Xoom overclocks), present the Xoom Rom 1.0 deodexed. Based on the stock 3.1 Verizon 3G image, the rom adds a number of enticing features for any of you Xoom owners who want that little bit extra out of your beloved gadget. Among the new features added we have:
- Tiamat 1.4.4 stock GPU,
- Root access with SU and superuser,
- Desktop UA string ,
- Gingerbread style CRT Screen Off Animation,
- Call setting with SIP and SMS capabilities enabled,
- Supercircle 100 point battery mod,
- Wifi Ad-Hoc mod enabled,
- USB Mass Storage Enabled
Quickboot, Estrongs File Explorer, and a modified version of Flash Player to work with Hulu have also been added. Obviously this is just the start for custom builds on the Xoom, but already this is a pretty alluring set of features, especially to Xoom users outside the US who still haven’t received the stock 3.1 update (myself included). Check the source link for more details and instructions on how to go about getting this up and running, and let us know how you get on!

Once again our resident LG Optimus S expert has cooked up some goodness for the little powerhouse from LG and Sprint. Using parts of his previous work, and a mind-melding technique with a few other Optimus hackers that took weeks and many six packs to perfect, Nick7 brings you the Reborn ROM.
Built off the original VD sources, Reborn ROM brings great performance and a nice, new visual style that sets it apart from the rest of the crowd. Think a little bit Hero, a little bit MyTouch 3G, and a whole lot of overclocked kernel and you have the right idea.
Ladies and gents, this is why hackers love Android. We’re just glad that they take the time to share with us all. For more information, visit the Reborn ROM thread in the Android Central forums.
Thanks go out to Nick7 for his hard work!
